A GHG inventory may seem like an overwhelming endeavour to undertake but is key to managing our (human) environmental footprint on the planet. As Michael Dell famously said: “You cannot manage what you cannot measure”. Cataloging greenhouse gases in a consistent way across many industries is a first step in managing our carbon footprint as a planet.

Greenhouse gases typically comprise 6 different categories of gases (e.g. Carbon Dioxide, Methane, Hydrochlorofluorocarbons [HCFCs]) and are typically released mostly as a result of energy production and use, waste disposal, transportation and refrigeration equipment. It is possible to reduce greenhouse gas release by reducing energy use, transport use and waste disposal.
